26th August 2013 – Appearance on “Youは何しに日本へ？”
Today, Exelia (Heather) and I appeared on a Japanese TV show called “Why did you come to Japan?”. We were filmed for 7 days at WCS and they made a one hour documentary about us and Team Italy. We want to say thank you to TV Tokyo and TV Aichi for treating us with kindness during our stay in Nagoya. We will never forget Japan!
29th July 2013 – World Cosplay Summit Report: Visiting the Nagoya Concierge and Nagoya Mayor
On the day of the official visits, we were split into 4 groups: two groups who would visit official bodies of Nagoya, one group that would do a private photo shoot, and one group that would do an official visit to Tokyo on another day. We were part of a group with Team Australia, Team Singapore, Team Malaysia and Team Denmark, and first we got to visit the Nagoya Concierge (Convention & Visitor’s Bureau). There we met the Foundation’s Chairman who told us about Nagoya’s tourist locations and what kinds of food the city is known for. Afterwards we did a shoot with all of the office staff who had dressed up just for us!
Afterwards we went to the Nagoya City Hall and we were able to meet the Mayor of Nagoya, Takashi Kawamura. He was dressed as Joe Shimamura from Cyborg 009, and he surprised us all with how friendly and funny he was by making jokes about wanting to change the 009 to 007 like James Bond! He chatted to us about Nagoya and then did a group photo together, where he started singing songs from the Beatles with us. There were loads of camera crews and film crews there but it’s really hard to find pictures- luckily I managed to find these tiny screenshots on the TV Aichi website which shows we were on TV!
28th July 2013 – World Cosplay Summit Report: Centrair Stage Event
In the morning we went to Chubu Centrair International Airport in Nagoya. This was the same airport a lot of contestants flew into, so it was a familiar sight for some – but for us it was our first time, since we came to Japan via Haneda! After getting changed we did the “Lottery Drawing” where we picked numbers from a box to determine what order we would perform in for the WCS Championships. We drew number 13! Lucky for some, unlucky for others!
After our numbers were drawn, Milky Holmes did a performance and it was amazing hearing how enthusiastic their fans were. We went back on stage afterwards to do a big group photo with Milky Holmes, then we went upstairs to the Skydeck to do another photo shoot. We could barely walk two steps because there were so many photographers! Finally as the day drew to a close, we went to the private WCS welcome party, which was lots of fun <3
27th July 2013 – World Cosplay Summit Report: Ichinomiya Tanabata Festival Cosplay Parade
This was the first event of WCS this year, and it was also my favourite! I was surprised that so many people came to Ichinomiya to see us, including young children, teenagers, adults and even grandparents! Everyone was waving at us and if we waved back they would get really excited. Some people would even ask to shake our hands after taking our photo!
The event started off with us going on stage to do some poses while the MC introduced who we were, and what were cosplaying for the WCS finals. Then after a short lunch break we did a parade through the undercover shopping arcade which was decorated with hundreds of beautiful multicoloured Fukinagashi streamers. This is also where we met the film crew for “Why did you come to Japan?” (YOUは何しに日本へ？).
26th May 2013 – Congratulations to Team Dignitas UK
This weekend I had the pleasure of hosting the MCMesports League of Legends tournament at MCM ComicCon London, run by the team at Backdrop Gaming. 32 teams entered and 4 semi-finalists came to London to duke it out on the big stage, including British Coffee Time, Circle Attack, Dignitas UK and Chaos Legion. After two fierce days on Summoner’s Rift, Team Dignitas UK came in first place and received a cash prize, gear from sponsor MadCatz (including the Strike 5 keyboard, R.A.T 5 mouse, and Glide 5 surface), RP from Riot and of course the MCMeSports trophy. Congratulations to Matt ‘Impaler’ Taylor, Nick ‘CookMySock’ Li, Reece ‘NitriX’ Phoenix, Raymond ‘Yerrow’ Tsang, and Tom ‘SmokeyLemon’ Griffiths – hope to see you again in the next tournament!

27th November 2012 – World Cosplay Summit selections at Hyper Japan!
This weekend at HYPER JAPAN, Exelia and I were selected to represent the UK at World Cosplay Summit 2013! We qualified in our Eiko and Vivi costumes from Final Fantasy IX. We’re so honored to have this amazing opportunity to go to Japan to represent our country and we’re already hard at work to ensure we make everyone back at home proud. You can track our adventure on our WCS Team UK 2013 facebook page where we’ll be posting progress images, tutorials, photo shoots and sneak-previews of our costumes for Nagoya!
22nd October 2012 – Interview with SuperMassive in their PlayEXPO movie!
The awesome guys from SuperMassive asked me to provide an intro for their short documentary about PlayExpo. It wraps up the event pretty well! If you can get a chance to go along to Play Expo it’s definitely worth it – I could have spent all day in the retro arcade if I wasn’t glued to the Street Fighter and Tekken booths.
12th October 2012 – Guest appearance at Manchester Play Expo!
Hey everyone! I’m excited to announce that myself and members of the HYPER JAPAN team will be making a guest appearance at Play Expo this weekend in Manchester!
Myself, Leolarua and Nomes will be attending to talk about our experiences at European Cosplay Gathering. We’ll also be running some panels, covering topics like how to start off as a new cosplayer, wig styling and make-up for cosplay. Additionally, the talented Sephirayne will be running a panel about how she made the armour for her Sephiroth costume, Emily from the Hyper Japan team will be hosting a zombie make-up panel sponsored by Capcom and Resident Evil, and Frederica la Noir will be running a panel on cosplay jewellery! So there’s lots to see and do this weekend!
This video by Omaru is awesome, it has everyone from ECG 2012 in it! Leolarua and I make a brief appearance in our Oswald and Gwendolyn costumes too!
