Hi there! I’m Yuka and I started cosplaying in 2002. I have created over 60 costumes, judged cosplay competitions and this year I’m representing the UK at the World Cosplay Summit in Nagoya, Japan. I’m very involved in the cosplay community in the UK, and I have written articles for convention books, run cosplay events and panels, and I have been interviewed by Scotland on Sunday and BBC radio about cosplay. I also founded Cosplay Scotland in 2006, which now has over 500 members and has monthly meet-ups with usual attendances of around 50 people each month!

I was brought up in Vancouver, where I got into anime and Japanese-influenced video games at a young age. I moved to the UK in 2001, discovered cosplay and have been hooked on it ever since! My dad lives in Japan with my little brother and I’ve been learning Japanese over the years so I can communicate with my family there.
When I’m not sewing, I love playing video games and writing. I have a passion for travelling, learning new languages, fashion and photography. I love cats and I have actually been found on a few occasions stopped somewhere on my route home from work trying to make friends with the local neighbourhood cats!
